QUIZ SHOW RABBI - IS IT KOSHER? - MARCH 18, 2016

A true rabbi is a student of the greatest rabbi, Moses.

Published: Friday, March 18, 2016 7:33 AM

Last night on Jeopardy, the popular quiz show for smart people, one of the three contestants introduced himself as a “rabbi.”

“That ain’t no rabbi,” I said to my wife who watches the show religiously. For her it’s a test to get the answers and questions right. She’s good!

For me, maybe since I can’t keep up, or maybe because men are more competitive than women (am I in trouble already?) it’s like hockey, or boxing, or worse, a blood sport. It’s about finding someone to root for, sometimes on looks alone, and picking someone to root against. That’s the fun part.

I want that person humiliated and destroyed. I want that person dragged through the mud. I want that person hanged, drawn and quartered.

I want that person floored, knocked out and stomped on.

Like this “rabbi.”

I took an immediate dislike to him because he looked like no rabbi to me.

To me a rabbi looks like the Rebbe did. Or like my father did. Or like the men who taught me Torah and Talmud from Montreal to Cincinnati. Not all had beards, but all had been ordained…granted smicha by other rabbis, none of whom, I am sure, ever appeared with Alex Trebek on Jeopardy.

Nor would a true rabbi ever appear on “The Bachelor” or “Dancing with the Stars” – which is probably what’s coming next.

From what yeshiva is my first question.
Because in a world so full of fakes anybody can wake up in the morning and declare himself rabbi. (From what yeshiva is my first question.)

That is still no reason for me to be so agitated about this contestant, a man I do not know. Does he know unclean from clean, meat from milk? This much is certain: no man goes public like that for the glory of Heaven. He is in it for himself and if he makes a fool of himself unfortunately it reflects upon all of us.

Was he even Jewish, this “rabbi?” Damage done, either way.

No man who’s the real deal would ever precede himself on a game show with that honored title, a title earned through years of toil in Torah.

A rabbi is a master of Jewish Law and Divinity and there ought to be a law against man or woman trifling a designation so treasured.

Women rabbis – that’s another problem for me but let’s leave that for another day, okay?

I tend to be old-fashioned about these things or to put it kindly in my favor – traditional. I like my rabbis traditional, though a touch of hipness is also good. The Rebbe, as I recall, steeped in Torah and mitzvot, but he still knew last night’s score between the Yankees and Red Sox.

None if this explains my annoyance when I come across a person who, like the pig, proclaims itself kosher because it has split hooves. But hides the fact that it does not chew the cud – rendering it unclean and unkosher, like the tricksters who say look at this but don’t look at that and who flourish in our midst.

Playing loose with titles can seem harmless but on the whole, deception can be deadly.

The Jewish people suffer from it every day. That’s the big picture when it comes to deceit and it is the portrait of my alarm.

I mean besides missionaries who come dressed as Jewish holy men.

For at a time when Judaism is being so misunderstood, when Israel is being so mischaracterized, do we really need more murky business? More theft?

Our enemies say our rights are their rights…our traditions are their traditions...our holy sites are their holy sites, even, they say, our Biblical heroes are their Biblical heroes. Surely and above all, they say that our land is their land. Hence, a stabbing a day and everything is justified on their behalf.

As the Land is inviolate, so ought to be the disciples of our first and greatest rabbi and teacher, Moses.

CONSERVATIVE INFIGHTING COULD HAND DEMOCRATS AN UNDESERVED VICTORY - MARCH 16, 2016

If Conservatives keep bickering, they may hand us over by default to the scofflaw Hillary Clinton.

Published: Wednesday, March 16, 2016 6:00 AM

Chalk this one up for the Liberals. They’ve ignited so much chaos at Trump’s rallies that they’ve got Conservatives fighting among themselves.

Liberals seldom fight among themselves. Mindlessly they go with the herd.

Conservatives clash. Or as Descartes would have it -- I think therefore I am a Conservative. I think therefore I am pro-America, pro-Israel.

So what’s up with the Breitbart flap as it concerns some reporters? Plenty. But first the headlines.

I’ve got a headache. I just listened to a Hillary victory speech.
Trump has taken the Florida primary and gets all 99 delegates. That’s huge. Hillary also took Florida but nobody cares. The fix is in. She is destined to win the nomination for her side because the Democrat power brokers say so and Liberals always follow the leader. They dare not dissent.

It’s a form of mind control we find in such Progressive flunkies as Juan Williams and Alan Colmes.

Republicans differ. They tend to be selective and think for themselves. This does cause dissent. But give-and-take is what Democracy is all about. Republicans are not robots and Ohio went not to Trump, but to John Kasich last night, and so for Trump the rumble has just begun.

This is good for America. Let the best man win, though outside of Trump, who?

Please let’s not argue as to whether Trump is a true Conservative. We’ve covered this already and I’ve got a headache. I just listened to a Hillary victory speech.

What they’ve got is a migraine over there at Breitbart, for some time the go-to site for Conservative news and views, political correctness be damned, which makes it a perfect fit for Trump, which is precisely where things went wrong. Editors and reporters have started leaving the online newsroom feeling that it’s too much in the bag for Trump.

If so, Ohio was not a success. Other than that, it was a good night for Trump and for Breitbart, but not for one of its reporters.

The trouble started in Florida at one of those Trump rallies. Trump was in top form, the crowd was exhilarated and peaceful – and then came the thugs.

These are the same thugs who disrupt our campuses. Yes, BDS and SJP -- and when they get bored bullying Jewish kids they find other soft spots.

They found Trump.

When they show up anything can happen, and it did. There was pushing and shoving and in the middle of it all a Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields claimed that she was pushed and shoved. Not by one of them. But by a Trump campaign manager. She expected her bosses to support her.

Instead, she claims, they supported Trump. So she quit. So did a few more staffers, notably Ben Shapiro, who’s often seen on Fox News with Megyn Kelly.

Whose side to take?

I can’t say. In fact I dare not say. Something happened. It’s like any family squabble. Wisdom says outsiders should keep out.

It’s not our business but it would be a shame to lose the clear-headed energy that’s been coming from Breitbart.

Energy is the word when it comes to the news business. Editors and reporters are in a mad dash to get it first and get it right.

Friction happens as I tell it first-hand in this newsroom thriller.
Shapiro has been a particularly strong voice for Israel and it would be a waste to lose him within Breitbart or out.

Mostly, it would be a shame if Conservatives keep bickering and in so doing hand us over by default to the scofflaw Hillary Clinton.

We can’t make the same mistake again. From Breitbart onward Conservatives need to patch things up to make amends for the past eight years.

The New York Times has already given the Breitbart dispute Front Page, so you know they are chortling and dancing in that newsroom.
Patching it up has been Trump’s latest plea, and he asked for it again last night.

Imagine John Kerry back as secretary of state and more humpy dumpty deals like the one he made for us with Iran.

Can’t have Liberals get the last laugh.

The New York Times has already given the Breitbart dispute Front Page, so you know they are chortling and dancing in that newsroom.

Every voice that advocates for America and champions for Israel is precious and must be handled with care.

WHY TRUMP AND ONLY TRUMP CAN BEAT HILLARY - MARCH 10, 2016

The others are good guys, but no one knows them.

Published: Thursday, March 10, 2016 9:45 PM

The crux of it is that Hillary Clinton is the most famous woman in America. To beat her in the general election you will need someone equally famous.

Does the name Kasich come to mind? Rubio? Cruz?

Americans don’t know these people.

They’re good guys, as good as anyone, I suppose, but they are strangers and have no shot.

You and me – we watch Fox News, occasionally CNN and MSNBC for the laughs, but our neighbors are watching “Dancing with the Stars.”

So it’s Trump and only Trump and only Trump is as well-known as Hillary the crook.

It should not be that way, I know. It should be about issues and sometimes it is, but mostly it isn’t. It’s about fame.

Anybody will do so long as that yenta doesn’t get it in.
Americans – we gravitate to fame. Maybe it’s the same all over, but in this country it’s like King Solomon said; a good name is more precious than silver and gold.

Don’t look to me for an endorsement. So this is not a pitch to Vote Trump.

This is a pitch to vote for anybody except Hillary.

Anybody will do so long as that yenta doesn’t get it in. Imagine getting up in the morning to that scold! Four years of that? Eight years?

Republicans who say they are staying home if Trump gets the nomination, your peeve, your snit may well come crashing upon all our heads.

How stupid! How selfish!

So happens that I do like Trump; liked him from the start. He’s too brash, too unscripted? That’s what I like. No teleprompter for him.

We’ve already got the perfect politician sitting in the White House – how’s that working out?

Ditto Hillary the opportunist. She’ll say anything to make a sale. Even people who vote for her do not like her. Nobody likes her. Bill doesn’t like her and what a disgrace to find a former President of the United States, instead of sitting grandly retired, there he is, from coast to coast, reduced to pimping for votes.

No wonder. She needs all the help she can get, so in this age where everybody gets a gold star, she calls it a triumph even when she loses.

The other day she lost Michigan to Bernie Sanders, the Communist Senator from Vermont. Did she give a concession speech?

No, she gave a victory speech.

The Republicans do likewise. Kasich, Cruz and Rubio keep losing and keep explaining how it is they really won.

They give victory speeches for coming in second, third and fourth.

No guys, you lost. Trump won.

To keep him going and to save us from Hillary or any Democrat in the next White House – think Hollywood.

When the studios spend millions to bring out a picture they need a big name, a star, to “open.”

To “open” means to attract moviegoers with a familiar name, like say Tom Hanks, and thus guarantee automatic box office.

Yes, Tom Hanks can open for the movies.

Donald Trump and only Donald Trump can open for the White House.

PLEASE, NO MORE PLANS FOR THE JEWS - MARCH 6, 2016

Every Tom, Dick and Harry has a plan of the week for the Jews.

Published: Sunday, March 06, 2016 9:38 AM

Please, no more plans for the Jews.

Please don’t send me your plans for the Jews. There have been enough plans. I know all about plans. I was once part of a plan. So was my sister. So was my entire family. So were millions of families. People always had plans for us and still do. Spare me your bright ideas.

I know all about plans. I was once part of a plan. So was my sister. So was my entire family. So were millions of families.
Like the one that came this morning, from Montreal, full of bells and whistles.

He is Jewish, this writer. He writes for a somewhat pro-Israel newspaper; I mean he is generally on my side. So he had a brainstorm and he wrote about it and would I please give my opinion. It was about the “West Bank” and how to redistribute Area’s A, B and C. Or maybe just Area C.

I never got to read it, this plan, because every week someone has a plan and this week’s plan is always better than last week’s plan.

On top of that here comes Dennis Ross along with Facebook friend David Makovsky to boost their latest plan “to revive the peace process.” Would I please read their not-to-be missed big idea as revealed in The Washington Post? No thanks…and you must be kidding when you say not enough attention has been paid to the conflict.

Seriously, wasn’t it two weeks ago when you two guys teamed up for the same newspaper with another plan, or was it the same plan but with a cherry on top? Or am I thinking of Tom Friedman over there at the Times and his plan of the week?  Every Tom, Dick and Harry has a plan of the week for the Jews.

They come from the left. The come from the right. But as I warned in this book every plan is a metaphor that ends in a trap for the Jewish State.

Something happens to me when I hear about plans for the Jews. It gets worse when I hear plans for Areas, or Zones, like A, B, C, or D or X, Y, Z. Immediately my mind shifts to the Berlin suburb of Wannsee where, January 20, 1942, Hitler’s highest officials gathered for the Wannsee Conference.

They had a plan.

The man in charge was Reinhard Heydrich of the SS, no one you’d want to know, and there were more like him gathered around a big table and there was no talk of murdering the Jews. No, it was all quite civil on the topic for a “final solution to the Jewish question.”

Notice the code. Notice the metaphor. Today we know what “final solution” really means. Back then it was simply business.

The business was how to “distribute” the Jews. They had in mind 11 million of us. The atmosphere was entirely business-like. There was scant mention or no mention of death camps, gas chambers, crematoriums, or Zyclon B. Mostly these were plans to round up the Jews.

The conference was about transferring Jews from here to there, from this Area to that Area, from Area A to Area B to Area C and on up to Area Z.

Think of your local Zoning Board.

Mostly it was about train schedules…”transports” and train schedules.

The meeting was so professional that you have to read the transcripts very carefully to find any derogatory remarks about the Jews.

There was hardly a note of anti-Semitism in the room.

The men were being entirely methodical about their final solution to the Jewish question. Methodically, much of what they said was done.

Six million Jews were methodically slaughtered according to plan.

Now I am not saying that today’s men and women with a plan have the same plan in mind. Many Arabs do. Many Europeans have it in mind.

The BDS crowds surely have it in mind. That’s what their movement is all about.

My Jewish friends with a plan SURELY mean well. But it still means “transporting” the Jews and “distributing” the Jews, even within their own homeland.

Foolishly, I assumed that once the Jewish State became sovereign there’d be no more plans, other than Biblical proprietorship over the entire Land.

To me, a plan still means code, still means metaphor, still means a final solution to the Jewish question…and it gives me the creeps.

THE OSCARS 2016, A JOYLESS, PAINFUL GUILT-FEST - MARCH 1, 2016

Once the Oscars were about glamour and stardom.

Published: Tuesday, March 01, 2016 7:59 AM

Some people won, some people lost, but Sunday’s Oscars were mostly about guilt, which is why shrieking Chris Rock was the perfect host.

He was perfect if you like feeling terrible about yourself.

He’s black and you’re not and that was enough for him to keep rubbing it in.  He never let up.

He took up the anti-police “Black Lives Matter” taunt 48 hours after Virginia Police Officer Ashley Guindon was killed on her first day of duty.

I don’t go to enough movies. Is this racism? Islamophobia?
In comedy, timing is supposed to be everything.

Yes, black performers were given no heed for this year’s awards. This should not have happened. African-American talent deserves better. But does that make Hollywood “racist?” Over the years there’ve been quite a number of awards and nominations for black talent, as anyone can find on Google.

Life is unfair and that goes for everyone. Were Italians fairly represented? Sylvester Stallone lost. Asians? Greeks? Irish-Americans? Were Jews given a break?

But nothing works these days without a gripe or a cause. It’s never enough. Nobody’s satisfied. People all over feel shortchanged, which is why millions gravitate to the casinos. As I expressed it in “Indecent Proposal,” we feel cheated by life and temptation drives us beyond limits to get even.

Sunday’s Oscars were about in-your-face getting even.

So, okay. Okay! I get it and I’m sorry. It’s my fault that Will Smith didn’t get nominated. I take full responsibility.

I’m sorry about global warming, too, Leonardo DiCaprio. I apologize and won’t let it happen again.

We thank the Academy for reminding us that we are slackers. We promise to mend our wicked wicked ways for next year’s Oscars especially if Chris Rock’s number comes up again. We need to make him happy. Late word has it that this year’s telecast dipped six percent in the ratings. This too must be racism, no?

More guilt? You bet.

Like that man said, the man who ran up to accept the Oscar for something or other – we are not doing enough for gay equality.

Count me in as guilty here, too. I’m sorry and won’t let it happen again.

Years ago the Oscars were about glamour and stardom. I don’t remember them as being a joyless, painful guilt-fest.

DiCaprio, accepting for Best Actor, warned that if we don’t do something about global warming right this minute the planet is doomed. This was around midnight when he said that and…and OMG! Was I supposed to get a good night’s sleep after hearing this?

If you are not Stephen Spielberg, is there any hope?

I mention Spielberg because that is practically the only name I know anymore. What happened to Gable and Lombard, Bogart and Bacall?

These new people, I don’t know them and I feel guilty about that, too. I don’t go to enough movies. Is this racism? Islamophobia?

“We didn’t need dialogue,” lamented Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. “We had faces.”

These days, as for me, I hardly know the faces and most of the time I don’t even know the names of these morning glories. This is my fault, for sure.

Anything else to feel terrible about after Sunday night’s Guilt Bash? Yes! Good movies, the small ones, get no chance, no shot. Only the studio ones budgeted at $250 million, where things fly and go bang all over the place and tell no story – these make it to the big screen.

Too bad, then, for Laszlo Nemes. This Hungarian director won for a movie that tells a story, a story about the Holocaust.

“Son of Saul,” nabbed the Oscar for Best Foreign Language and from all accounts it is a very fine film – which nobody will see.

We should all feel guilty about this, especially.

WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN BACKYARD, DAVID CAMERON - FEBRUARY 28, 2015

The temper tantrum that revealed the truth about the UK PM.

Published: Sunday, February 28, 2016 12:13 PM

Wow! That was some temper tantrum, Mr. Cameron, and we can’t help but notice that your first name mirrors the Hebrew king who anointed Jerusalem.

That was 3,000 years ago when Jerusalem was consecrated for the Jewish people onto eternity, through David. Please read your bible, Mr. Cameron. Read it in the original, the Hebrew, though the King James Version would serve to make the same case in favor of Israel.

What has changed to make you breathe fire against your namesake, against Israel, against the Jewish people?

Apparently someone got to you, namely Shawan Jabarin from Ramallah who’s been murmuring that Jerusalem is becoming too Jewish.

He says, “Since Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem in 1967, it had implemented a comprehensive policy to deepen its control over the city by weakening Palestinian presence and ties there” -- and now even you say this and I ask, what exactly is the problem with Jews finally returning to their ancestral home?

Arthur James Balfour would ask you the same question. I doubt that Lord Balfour would view with favor your outburst as when last week you told the House of Commons that you found it “genuinely shocking” how “occupied East Jerusalem” is being encircled by “illegal settlements.”

Occupied? Illegal? We expect such delusions, myths and blood libels from Ramallah. But not from London.

You told your House, “I am well-known as being a strong friend of Israel.”

No you are not. Not in my house.

The phrase “occupied Jerusalem,” so wrong, so hurtful, brings with it terrible mischief among allies and disharmony among friends as you will read here when entire newsrooms, from the BBC to the Manhattan Independent squared off in revolt as to which side to take upon a fact settled through scripture and tradition.

You continued, “It’s very important that this capital city is maintained in the way that it was in the past.”

A moment ago we discussed Jerusalem and how it was in the past. Under King David is how it was in the past, followed by generations of Hebrew kings who shared his bloodlines. That is how it was and precisely how it is. Note this as well: No “Palestinian presence” in sight from one millennium to the next.

Suddenly here they are, since 1964, a people that materialized through fiction, and it all belongs to them?

That you buy an argument so false is one problem. But since we are dealing with “facts on the ground” here’s the big question:

Why are you even speaking about Israel, pro or con? Why is Israel your business? You have enough to worry about in your own backyard.

We hear no “genuinely shocking” indignation from you as regards the rape epidemic sweeping your country.

Just today six of these Rotherham gangsters were brought to justice as reported by The Independent. (UK)

Why are you even speaking about Israel, pro or con? Why is Israel your business? You have enough to worry about in your own backyard.
But generally your government and your news media are guilty of a colossal cover up. Since you are so alert to anything illegal, we would have expected you to drop Israel as an obsession, but obsess rather on an issue that demands your immediate attention, as we finally learned from one report as follows:

“The scale of the abuse in Oxfordshire, a county in southeast England, mirrors similarly shocking accounts of the sexual exploitation of white British girls by Muslim gangs in Bristol, Derby, Rochdale, Rotherham and Telford, and implies that the problem is not isolated, but endemic.”

Yes, British girls are being raped throughout your country. People are afraid to speak up for fear of being termed islamophobic – plus the fear of retaliatory abuse from the same gangs who stalk your cities, towns and villages and do so under the cover of a nationwide conspiracy of silence.

It would be different if these victims, thousands of them, had someone to plead their cause. The British prime minister would be the perfect man.

But you, sir, are busy with Israel and your concern for the Palestinians, who apparently are nearer to your heart than your own citizens and children.

Now that…yes that is genuinely shocking.

STILL WAITING FOR PALESTINIANS TO BECOME CIVILIZED - FEBRUARY 24, 2016

Hatred is what they do and it is all they do.

Published: Wednesday, February 24, 2016 9:04 PM

I write this as we learn that another Israeli has been killed as the result of the latest Palestinian terror attack, this time in Gush Etzion.

Nothing seems to stop this. Nothing seems to work. Israel has tried everything to turn these people into good neighbors, and it only gets worse.

Along with the rocks and the knives on the local scene, the Palestinian Arabs have moved their terrorism onto global warfare.

The mosques continue to blare incitement nonstop. The Palestinian-BDS movement continues to spread hatred from campus to campus, for hatred is what they do and it is all they do.

These people make nothing, invent nothing, contribute nothing. A bogus claim is all they’ve got. They are good at spreading it thick and thin.

Montreal’s McGill University is the latest to swallow from their cup of deceit.

London Tube trains carry BDS posters to further the Palestinian Arab cause, which is to murder as many Jews as possible in Israel and around the world.

On top of all that, behold, it’s Universal Apartheid Week, yet another gift to the world from the people who can’t seem to get the hang of acting civilized.

This is a global jihad, ladies and gentlemen. The last to figure this out are the Israelis, who should be the first.

It’s Global Jihad, stupid.
Because it was in Israel where this worldwide plague got started and can’t seem to get finished despite extended favors.

We are talking about concessions up the hilt…building freezes, handshakes with Arafat and Abbas over a suicidal two-state solution, lopsided prisoner exchanges, the Gaza Expulsion of Israelis, and worst of all perhaps, the Oslo Accords, where Israel’s leadership helped create this monster.

The wheeling and dealing was all done with one purpose in mind – the hope that one day the Palestinians would be appeased enough to become civilized.

One fine day, it was hoped, these Palestinian Arab Muslims would stop behaving like savages.

The dream persists, evidence to the contrary. Last week yet another high-ranking member of Israel’s military offered defeatism as his advice –

More concessions. He wasn’t kidding.

Some people simply do not learn and it is tempting to blame the Left, only it is Benjamin Netanyahu who continues to freeze Jewish territory. It was Ariel Sharon who committed the Gaza atrocity. So Israel submits itself and belittles itself from within, and from Left to Right.

Does anyone in Israel know what’s really going on outside in the big world? It’s Global Jihad, stupid.

They are everywhere, these jihadists. They are targeting everyone. They can’t be tamed and no amount of knee-bending will make a damn bit of difference.

Israel gets picked on because it is there, because it is Jewish, and because it fights with one hand and never goes for the knockout. Never.

After today’s Gush Etzion attack, which took the life of Eliyav Gelman, a Reserve Captain, 30, father of two, we are sure to weep, to grieve, to hear calls for vengeance, and to rest assured that everything is being done to catch the terrorists and bring them to justice.

Sorry – too late. Everything should have been done BEFORE, not AFTER.

Like what? Like what I have been writing for years – zero tolerance.

That is something I shouldn’t have to figure out for the politicians and for the military high brass. They should know what to do.

A nation that was outgunned 1,000 to one back in 1948 but still prevailed ought to know how to prevail against the knives of 2016.

But the beginning of wisdom for this type of warfare is to understand that this enemy cannot be softened through concession trophies in Israel or anywhere else around the world. No, it’s time to realize that this truly is a clash of civilizations, made worse by the fact that the other side is totally uncivilized.

Deal with it now and take no prisoners.
